Today is World Vegan Day, commemorating the coining of the term, ‘vegan’ and the founding of The Vegan Society in November 1944. Can you believe how far veganism has come worldwide? Can you believe how far veganism has come in Dallas?

Already becoming a pretty vegan-friendly city over the last couple of years, momentum has picked up quite dramatically. After the successful conclusion of the 2nd Annual Texas State Veggie Fair two weekends ago, we’re seeing the opening of several veg*n businesses over the next several weeks.

Food trucks are the new trend in DFW, and Dallas now has its very first all-vegan truck, Jackalope Mobile Kitchen. Also coming soon is Good Karma Kitchen, the vegetarian/gluten free truck out of Fort Worth whose truck was just recently finished and will be in service soon.

Also coming soon is Big A Little A vegan bakery, a newcomer to town currently scouting spots for their donuts and other goodies to be sold. Now open is Little Eden Bakery – filling the vegan cinnamon roll void at Crooked Tree Coffeehouse left when Tough Cookie Bakery headed south.

And finally, VSPOT café, the newest vegan restaurant in town, recently opened its doors on Henderson – joining the growing number of all vegan restaurants in DFW.

What are YOU excited about the regarding vegan scene in DFW?
