Dallas/Fort Worth Vegan Roundup – Join the team!

collageAre you looking to do more in the DFW Vegan Community, but aren’t quite sure how to contribute?

So much is happening in DFW and it takes a great team of inspired people to get the word out. The resources and activities we provide are a great way to help current vegans take advantage of the thriving DFW vegan scene, and show veg-curious folks just how easy going vegan in DFW can be!

Are you skilled at and/or interested in learning more about:

  • Blogging/writing
  • Website design
  • Event planning
  • Food/dining/cooking
  • Social media

You don’t have to be an expert on anything in particular, just be passionate about veganism and have the desire to share that passion with others!

Here are some of the activities Dallas Vegan is involved with:

DallasVegan.com

DallasVegan.com is a great resource for news, events, and other info vital to the growing vegan scene in DFW. As a content partner on PegasusNews.com, published articles have a large readership potential and help spread the word outside of the vegan community. In addition, our articles are referenced in other local mainstream media sources which offers greater visibility to the vegan scene to more people.

Activities include visiting new restaurants and writing reviews, attending tasting events for new restaurants, gathering local veg-related event info, and sharing news articles/info about veg-related stories in the area. Great experience for someone looking for a writing outlet, but that doesn’t have the time to devote to their own site. Contribute as much or as little as you feel comfortable!

Dallas Vegan Drinks

Founded in 2009, Dallas Vegan Drinks is a monthly meetup that brings together vegan and veg-friendly locals for an evening of drinks, fun and discussion on vegan happenings in the Metroplex. The location changes every month since we aim to support all of the great veg-friendly bars and restaurants in the area.

Activities include organizing the monthly events – from scoping out and contacting new places to try and pinning down the details for each monthly event.

IMG_5001Texas State Veggie Fair

Celebrating its fourth year in 2013, the Texas State Veggie Fair is a highly anticipated all-vegan event that brings together amazing food, carnival games, live music, nationally-renowned guest speakers, cooking demos, product samples and more. With over 5,000 attendees in 2012, the fair is growing every year.

Volunteers are needed for help with planning, promotion, setup, cleaning, tear-down, carnival games and general organization. The more dedicated and driven people we have on board, the bigger and more successful the fair will be!

Vegan 101

Founded in 2006, the Meetup.com group “Vegan 101” boasts over 900 members and holds various meetup events, from potlucks and dinners to book signings and visits to nearby animal sanctuaries. The possibilities for veg-friendly meetups are endless and are always a lot of fun, but more people are needed to help organize these events.

Activities include generating new ideas for and hosting Meetups such as potlucks, dining out, cookouts, and other related activities.

Product Spotting/Reviews

We’re always on the lookout for new vegan products, from ready-made food and pantry staples to clothing and shoes to cruelty-free household and beauty items. Help spread the word about new vegan goods by snapping pictures and/or writing up reviews on your latest find for use on Facebook and the Dallas Vegan website.

IMG_3652Restaurant outreach

We worked with The Libertine Bar to help promote their first Vegan Beer Dinner in April 2011. Fast forward a year and many beer dinners later, The Libertine has added vegan items to their regular (and previously less-than-vegan-friendly) menu. The Seitan Tacos are amazing- a great example of how our outreach has helped build vegan awareness in restaurants. With the right approach, anyone can reach out to restaurants and work with them to get veg-friendly options on the menu. We can work with you to give you the tools (and the clout) to talk to restaurants about vegan options and make changes happen!

Interested?

Let us know if one or all of these sounds like something you’d like to be involved with – we’re excited to meet new people that can contribute!
