The Dallas Hare Krishna Temple invites the public to its annual Festival of the Chariots (Ratha Yatra). This ancient tradition has been observed in India for over 5,000 years and is celebrated today in over 100 cities around the world. The festival includes a float parade, cultural entertainment program, temple services & a free vegetarian feast.
The parade starting at 10 am goes through the neighborhood, accompanied by hundreds of devotees as they sing,dance,& play musical instruments.
The entertainment program follows at 12:30pm with:
- traditional dances
- kirtan music
- spiritual discourse
- a childrens fair
- henna tattoos & facepainting
- contests & games
- photobooths, art & cultural booths, food booths
